The Texas Grand Canyon. Second largest Canyon system in the United States.
Trail starts in the Chicos Basin Campground in Big Bend NP.
The trailhead for the Pinnacles trail is near the Chisos Basin Campground. The campground has camping sites available, in addition to running water and picnic and grill facilities. Longer hikes are passable in the Chisos Mountains.
This hike competes with Delicate Arch as the best hike in the Arches Nation Park. The Devil's Garden area of Arches National Park contains the largest concentration of significant natural arches in the world. The parking lot only has 150 spaces so you will want to arrive early.
This trail starts in the parking lot on the main park access road of Arches National Park. To avoid the crowds go in the morning, or evening.
The hiking trail along the base of the towers offers excellent views of these carved piles of hardened mud and adjacent canyon systems. While there are numerous stopping points with striking views, an outstanding view of the area may be obtained by hiking out halfway along the trail to the base of the Titan.

Zion National Park located in southern Utah. One of the great things about this park is they do not allow cars on the main access roads. You will have to get out of your car and take the free shuttle.

Big Bend National Park is a national park located in the U.S. state of Texas. Big Bend has national significance as the largest protected area of Chihuahuan Desert topography and ecology in the United States. This trip report chronicles a trip though the Chicos Mountains that over look the Rio Grande River and Mexico to the South. This Hiking Journal is of a hiking trip I did in 2008.
