Big Bend South Rim Loop Hike

Big Bend National Park is a national park located in the U.S. state of Texas. Big Bend has national significance as the largest protected area of Chihuahuan Desert topography and ecology in the United States. This trip report chronicles a trip though the Chicos Mountains that over look the Rio Grande River and Mexico to the South. This Hiking Journal is of a hiking trip I did in 2008.

This hike competes with Delicate Arch as the best hike in the Arches Nation Park. The Devil's Garden area of Arches National Park contains the largest concentration of significant natural arches in the world. The parking lot only has 150 spaces so you will want to arrive early.

Fisher Towers

The hiking trail along the base of the towers offers excellent views of these carved piles of hardened mud and adjacent canyon systems. While there are numerous stopping points with striking views, an outstanding view of the area may be obtained by hiking out halfway along the trail to the base of the Titan.
