Hiking Information

Big Bend National Park is a national park located in the U.S. state of Texas. Big Bend has national significance as the largest protected area of Chihuahuan Desert topography and ecology in the United States. This trip report chronicles a trip though the Chicos Mountains that over look the Rio Grande River and Mexico to the South. This Hiking Journal is of a hiking trip I did in 2008.

Trail Head Information

Trail starts near the Chicos Campground and store.

The trail starts off on a climb up the Pinnacles trail climbing steeply immediately.

After the Emory Peek trail splits off the climb is not as steep anymore. Anyone that is with a phobia of drop offs will have problems with traveling this trail.

Here is the first view over the South Rim looking into Mexico.

This is a view from our campsite SE3.

Sunset is cool too

Sun rise on the South Rim

We took the Laguna Meadows trail on the way back to make a complete loop.
